200th anniversary of Norwegian emigration

In 1825, the first Norwegians set sail to America, starting a wave of emigration that saw nearly 900,000 people leave in search of freedom and opportunity.

To serve this growing movement, Den Norske Amerikalinje was established in 1910 as a dedicated passenger and freight ship- ping company, connecting Norway and the United States. Its Oslo headquarters opened in 1919, and its ships became symbols of the transatlantic journey, carrying hopeful emigrants to new lives in America.

Today, that very building, the original headquarters of Den Norske Amerikalinje has been reborn as our boutique hotel. A tribute to the journeys that shaped us.

This year marks 200 years since the first emigration, and we’re proud to welcome guests into a space that once stood at the center of this historic movement.
