Lonely Christmas Tree

It’s the most wonderful time of the year and at Amerikalinjen we are spreading the Christmas cheer. Help us make this season a magical one for children in need by collecting gifts to our Lonely Christmas Tree Project!

Christmas is a wonderful time of traditions, both new and old. For many children, however, this is not always a season of joy. That’s why we have a yearly tradition at Amerikalinjen—we call it Lonely Christmas Tree Seeking Presents. Every year in December, we invite you to donate a Christmas gift to the children who need it the most, by placing it under the Christmas tree in our lobby.

Here’s how to participate 

Buy or donate a Christmas present. We kindly ask for new items or gifts that’s in a good condition, preferably something you think a child would really want and need. Many of the families we support receive secondhand items throughout the year, so this would make the season feel extra special. This could even include an experience! A cinema ticket can be an amazing gift for children of all ages.

Please deliver your present in a gift bag including a tag, and lebel it with the age and gender it’s suitable for. The Salvation Army (Frelsesarmeen) will ensure all gifts are safe and suitable for the families receiving them! We do not handle food or beverage donations. 

Write a note detailing the approximate age and interests of your intended recipient. For example: “Merry Christmas from Johanna! This gift is ideal for someone aged 3-5 years who loves playing outside.”

Stop by our lobby and leave your much appreciated gift under our Christmas tree before December 15th. 

Where do the gifts go?

All received Christmas gifts at our hotel are donated to The Salvation Army (Frelsesarmeen), with the specific purpose of reaching children in low-income families.

About the project

The Lonely Christmas Tree Project is a part of Nordic Hotels & Resorts’ initiative, alongside with Giving Tuesday’s which is a day that encourages people to do good, we want to take the opportunity to give back to our communities. Since 2012, Nordic Hotels & Resorts, alongside Strawberry, have collected over 500,000 gifts through the Lonely Christmas Tree Project. We are thankful for all the participations everyone give!
